  • Mare Power

This technique allows breeders a chance at multiple foals from their best mares within one breeding season.

  • Performance Mares

Embryo transfer allows high-performance mares to continue their careers in competition or work without the physical demands and risks of pregnancy.

  • Preserve Genetics

Embryo transfer is an effective way to maximize your mare's breeding potential.

  • CONTROLLED Breeding

It gives more control over the breeding process, enabling breeders to utilize the best mares for reproduction.

  • Reduces Stress

Embryo transfer significantly reduces stress for breeding mares, as it allows them to pass on their genetics without the physical burden and risks associated with pregnancy and foaling.

  • Safety

The procedure is safe for the mare. It's a non-surgical technique performed with the mare conscious.

From Embryo to Excellence: How it Works

Equine embryo transfer is a complex and intricate process.

  • Breeding: Once the mare is in heat and the follicles have reached the right size, the mare is bred using artificial insemination.
  • Embryo Flushing: About 6-7 days after ovulation, the veterinarian flushes the uterus of the donor mare with a saline solution to collect the embryo. This is a non-surgical procedure performed with the mare conscious. The flushed solution is then carefully filtered to isolate the embryo.
  • Embryo Evaluation and Transfer: The retrieved embryo is examined under a microscope to ensure it's viable and healthy. If the embryo is of good quality, it is then transferred non-surgically to a recipient mare, who has been synchronized to be at the same stage of her reproductive cycle as the donor mare.
  • Pregnancy: The recipient mare carries the pregnancy to term. She gives birth to the foal and then provides maternal care.
